Watering trees

• It's important to remember that while water is the most significant thing you can give a tree, we must not water our plants and trees too often. A plant's roots need to breathe air, too, as roots that are always wet will rot or get fungal diseases. More on that later÷now, hereÌs how to put the water on.
• Place your garden hose about 6" from the base of the trunk (on the high side if you've planted on a slope). Set the water flow at a slow trickle -- enough to fill a milk jug in six minutes. This is about ten gallons per hour. Leave this on each tree for about two hours, then move on to the next one.

Famed for Abe Lincoln's Log Cabin, the Indy 500, and of course, basketball, perhaps Indiana's most endearing charms are its small town attitudes and lifestyles still found throughout the state.
